Polycarp

A disciple of John the Apostle, and a Christian bishop of Smyrna who was martyred for his faith in Christ.

A young slave girl, Anna, is rescued and adopted by Christians in the 2nd century Smyrna and befriended by their aged bishop, Polycarp. As Anna is taught by Polycarp and her new family, she struggles to reconcile her beliefs with those of the Christians. When the Roman proconsul demands that all citizens worship Caesar to show their allegiance to Rome, Polycarp and the Christians must find the courage to stand for their faith against the growing threat of persecution.

Irenaeus of Lyons - The Rule of Faith

Irenaeus believed that without a belief in the Trinity, a person could not come to know, or fully have faith in God.

In the movie Polycarp, the Greek bishop Irenaeus is mentioned, and the video shows that Polycarp's writings were sent to Irenaeus.  From the writings of Irenaeus writings we  know he was a disciple of Polycarp.  Polycarp was a disciple of  John the Apostle and together their preserved writings provide us the evidence that we have access to same same Christian faith as the first Christians in history.  This evidence also stands in contradiction to the claims that Christianity was invented later in history around the time of Emperor Constantine.
